Hello, my name is Sylvanye "Sam" Roh and my companion is Lily Pad Roh,
and we are happy you have decided to visit my site.
My work as a designer, glass artisan and instructor began
several years ago when I decided to leave the corporate world and set up a glass studio to make one-of-a-kind glass jewelry,
vases, clocks, desktop items (letter-openers, bookmarks, etc.) using two or more pieces of fusible glass. I
use fine and sterling silver with fused glass to create unique but functional jewelry, designed to please the most discriminating
taste.
I enjoy creating my own combinations of colors, shades, textures and patterns from melted glass and then
using that output to create new and interesting designs.
I also create three-dimensional wall art, with textures and designs
that appeal to the touch. All of my pieces are hand-cut and fired in a kiln for 16 hours or more. Some pieces
may require several firings to get the desired effect.
"Glass is both a challenge and a rewarding experience.
The learning process is never-ending and the opportunity to explore new ideas is ever present. I enjoy sharing my love
of glass, silversmithing, and designing through teaching and demonstrating."
I teach a range of workshops
from beginner to advance at art and craft schools throughout the United States. My studio workshops are customized for
each student or small group allowing them to learn techniques specific to their needs. I also travel to private studios,
homes, and businesses to teach.
My designs can be found throughout the world in gift shops, studios, and fine art galleries
including the Renwick Gallery of the Smithsonian Institution, the FRIST Center for the Visual Arts and on display in
the city hall of Zama, Japan.
