This one-day workshop is an
exciting opportunity for you to further explore the design possibilities of designing and creating glass vases, candle votives
and candy dishes using stainless steel and ceramic molds. You will be excited to see how the heat from the kiln causes
the glass to flow downward, outward and inward.
Experiment
using a glass grinder, wet belt sander and ring saw to create unique glass design edges --- also referred to as "coldworking." Use enamels, glass paints and frit to accent your pieces.
Note: You will need to pickup your piece the next day or have it mailed to you. Vases, votives and
dishes of this size require additional firing and overnight annealing.
Materials included: All supplies and equipment, including glass.
Workshop hours: 10:00 am to 4:00 pm (CST) Monday thru Saturday by appointment
- click on email link below to schedule your workshop day.
Experience Level:
Beginners $175 - $200
Intermediate to Advance $150 - $175
NOTE:Discount rate given
to groups of 2 or more students taking the workshop together.
This workshop is for students familiar with glass cutting and fusing. It presents an opportunity for you to further explore the design possibilities designing
with fusible glass.
Learn
to cut circles, emboss in hot molten glass, rubberstamp designs onto glass, etch and create your own stencil designs
for sandblasting onto glass. Each of the techniques mentioned will be accomplished using dichroic, irridescent
and fusible art glass.
This workshop will be completed in one day. All glass, equipment and tools are included
in the workshop fee.

Designs by Sylvanye
Glass Studio offers students an opportunity to create their own workshop with the techniques they want
to learn.
Workshops created by students consist of techniques that can be accomplished in one to three days.
Generally the third day is set aside for the student to pick up their design and to discuss firing results.
To
calculate how many days your workshop will take use the formula below:
Formula: 1
day equals 3 points and each technique is assigned a point factor. Techniques requiring 2 days of firing (combination
firing such as fusing & slumping) time equals 3 points unless you use your own kiln to finalize the process.
Example: A student wants to learn the following techniques which will equal 1 day.
(1) Five techniques for creating holes in glass = 1.5 points (Student will create holes in pre-fused glass using 5 different techniques)
(2) Cold fusing dichroic & art glass = 1.5 points
(Student will create several glass pendants
out of dichroic and art glass using the cold fusing method which includes a lot of coldworking techniques).
Below is a list of intermediate
and advanced kiln-formed glass techniques available for you choose from in creating your own workshop. If there is a
technique you would like to learn that is not listed below, please do not hesitate to contact me.
1. Create dichroic & iridescent glass jewelry = 2 points 2. Create unique designs
with frit and glass powders = 2 points 3. Sandblast, etch and stencil on glass = 2 points 4. Metal emboss fantastic designs in hot molten glass = 1 point 5.
Slump & drape a vase & candy dish with molds = 2 points 6. Fuse decorative inclusions
such as copper, silver, etc. into glass = 1 point 7. Use 5 different techniques for creating
holes in glass = 1.5 points 8. Fuse designs into glass with glass & ceramic decals
= 1 point 9. Create beautiful frozen glass jewelry = 2.0 points 10. Create
& fire PMC or Art Clay Silver pendants in a microwave kiln = 1.5 points 11. Enamel copper in the
microwave or conventional glass kiln = 1 or 2 points 12. Create Glass Clay Jewelry = 1 point 13. Cold fuse dichroic and art glass to create pendants = 1.5 points 14. Create
pot melt designs with hot dripping glass = 2 points 15. Create unique one-of-kind pattern bars = 2 points 16. Learn to cut circles & rims to fuse & slump circular designs = 3 points 17.
Create a wall sconce or glass lampshade = 2 points 18. Design & create your own stencils for sandblasting
& etching = 1.5 points 19. Fuse any photo into glass in sepia tone = 2 points
